Welcome to Chained Creations. You have fallen upon a major love of mine as well as a major addiction. I first discovered chain maille when I attended a Renaissance Festival in Holly, Michigan. I loved it, I loved the look of it, the feel of it, and the uniqueness of it. I wanted to drape myself in nothing but loads of chain maille and prance down the street, but since I couldn't do that without going to jail for indecent exposure, I decided to learn how to make the chain maille jewelry myself. I started searching the net and reading books and studying other pieces.
Yes, it is hard to learn, but with each new weave comes a total feeling of satisfaction and a driving force to learn another one. Each piece starts out as wire, yes, just wire. The wire is then coiled and cut into tiny rings and then these rings are joined together one at a time until the vision that is in my head comes out through my hands and the completed piece of jewelry is there. Some of my pieces have thousands and thousands of rings in them.
I've always been one who didn't like wearing what everyone else is wearing. Yes, I do go with the fashion trends, but I do it my own way. I like being "different and unique" and that's what I want my jewelry and accessories to say.
I work with several different metals for the majority of my work, sterling silver, gold-filled, stainless steel, bright aluminum, copper, bronze, and for the different colored items, annodized aluminum and enameled copper. I also incorporate gemstones, swarovski crystals, or beads made from different medias. Each piece is created by me with just the materials and two pairs of pliers.
As you look through my online portfolio, please picture yourself or someone that you care about, wearing each piece. Does it say something "about" or "to" you? Do you like everything about it except for one or two exceptions? No problem, each piece can be customized to what you want. When you're finished looking please take a moment to email me and let me know what your thoughts are on it. All criticism, good or bad, is constructive to me in helping me to know what you like and helps me to grow in my art.
Blessed Be and Merry Part,
Bea
